Find Your True Passion

When we talk to pastors about the dreams and desires for their lives, we are disappointed. Not in their answers, in their lack of answers. For some reason, pastors have a problem with dreaming about possibilities outside their work-related responsibilities. They answer about their church or ministry more than about their life. So we thought we'd create a way for you to explore what you might ignore with these 15 questions to help you tap into your wants, needs, desires, and fantasies. So let’s get started!
- What is the one thing you’ve always wanted to do? Have you been putting it off for years? Make a plan and get started.
- If you could spend today doing whatever you desire, what would it be? Let your mind go wild. It could be something related to your work, home, or life.
- Where do you really want to live? Have you always dreamed of living in a particular city or residence? Ponder the possibilities of moving to a place you’ll love.
- Where would you like to visit? Are you harboring a secret yearning to see a particular place? Can you make it happen?
- What do you talk about doing but never doing it? Have you been saying, “I’ve wanted to do this for years”? Explore within yourself why you haven’t pursued the life you want. Can you do something differently to help bring your dreams to life?
- What are the reasons you don’t go after your dreams? Do you lack motivation or feel like you don’t have the skills to achieve them? Take a moment to explore these reasons and see if there’s anything you can change.
- How will you finish the sentence, “More than anything, before I die, I want to ___?” Say it out loud and fill in the blank. Then, figure out a way to accomplish your wish.
- What things would you like to get rid of in your life? Are there aspects of your life that you no longer enjoy? Make a list of the ways you’d like your life to change.
- Which people in your life inspire you and why? It’s important to know who inspires you so you can spend more time with them. What is it about them that lights you up so much? Decide to take every step to be inspired more often.
- If you were to make just one radical change in your life right now to make life better, what would it be? Moving to a bigger city might spice up your life. Getting more education might be a goal; you’ll likely make more money. You’ll be happier if you chase your dreams.
- How do you feel when you put all your effort into accomplishing one of your goals? Notice these feelings. You’ll no doubt want to experience them more often.
- How do you feel whenever you achieve a life goal? Awesome, probably.
- What’s missing from your life? This question requires considerable soul-searching. Take some time to explore what’s missing and what you can do to fill that void.
- Who are your biggest supporters? It’s wise to know the people who will stand behind you and help you pursue your passions, no matter what.
- Who gets in the way of you achieving your goals? To find your true passions, you might be required to disengage from those who wish to counteract your efforts.
Take some time to answer these questions and see what you discover. Remember, your true passions are inside you, waiting to be let loose to bring you excitement, joy, and fulfillment.
Here are three self-reflection questions to help you explore further:
- What steps can you take to incorporate your desires into your daily life?
- How can you connect with like-minded individuals who share your passions?
- What can you do today to take the first step toward pursuing your passions?
